Hasbro teams with 'Sesame Street'

Toy company signs 10-year alliance with Sesame Workshop

NEW YORK -- Toy giant Hasbro and Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind "Sesame Street," on Monday unveiled a 10-year global strategic alliance that will give Hasbro the rights to market toys and co-branded games based on "Sesame Street" characters.

The companies didn't comment on a possible content collaboration for a kids cable network operated by Hasbro and Discovery Communications, but Monday's deal could well be a pre-cursor for such an expanded cooperation.

A range of Hasbro products featuring Elmo, Big Bird, Abby Cadabby and Cookie Monster, among others, will be available beginning in 2011 and are designed to entertain and educate, Hasbro and Sesame Workshop said.
