'The Hateful Eight's' Nationwide Release Date Changes Again
The Quentin Tarantino Western will get a 70mm run in 100 theaters in 44 markets.
Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight will now open everywhere on Dec. 31, The Weinstein Company announced Monday.
As previously planned, the revenge Western will first open Christmas Day in an exclusive 70mm run in 100 theaters in 44 markets.
Originally, Hateful Eight wasn't set to open until Jan. 8, following a two-week 70mm run, but last week TWC decided to move up the release to New Year’s Day (a Friday). Now, it will open instead on Thursday, Dec. 31. TWC said the film will continue to play in 70mm even when it opens in regular theaters.
Hateful Eight stars Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Channing Tatum, Michael Madsen and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film is a John Ford-esque Western set in post-Civil War Wyoming during a blizzard that traps a ragtag group of strangers with violent proclivities inside a haberdashery.
