Hauer booked on 'Bride Flight'

AMSTERDAM -- Rutger Hauer has signed up to star in the Dutch film "Bride Flight," the new film from Oscar nominee Ben Sombogaart ("Twin Sisters").

The film marks a return to Dutch cinema after more than a decade for Hauer, who splits time between Hollywood and the Netherlands.

The 6.4 million euro ($9.52 million) feature is produced by Amsterdam-based IdtV Film BV and Samsa Film Luxembourg. The production, being shot in New Zealand, deals with the story of three women who meet a mysterious man during the historic bridal flight between London and New Zealand in 1953.

"Bride Flight" was the name given by the media to a KLM flight that carried 40 Dutch immigrants to New Zealand to join their fiances there.
