'Hawthorne' shifts change for twosome
Mazzara named showrunner; Masius stays exec producer"Hawthorne" executive producer Glen Mazzara has been named showrunner for the upcoming second season of the TNT medical drama starring Jada Pinkett Smith.
The series' creator/executive producer John Masius, who ran the first season, will continue on the Sony TV-produced show as exec producer.
The move was initiated by Masius, who wants to focus on writing, the part of making a TV show that he enjoys the most and that has earned him nine Emmy nominations and two wins. He will continue to be involved in the oversight of the series with Mazzara.
Before joining "Hawthorne," Mazzara served as executive producer/showrunner on the first season of Starz's drama series "Crash."
Along with Adam Fierro, Mazzara was recently hired by Columbia to write a sequel to the Will Smith-starring "Hancock."
Mazzara, whose series credits also include "The Shield" and "Life," is repped by CAA.
