HBO acquires Canuck TV rights to Israeli doc

Shlomi Elder's 'Precious Life' centers on Palestinian boy

TORONTO -- HBO has picked up the domestic TV rights to Israeli filmmaker Shlomi Elder's "Precious Life" ahead of its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The deal with Bleiberg Entertainment is for Israeli TV journalist Eldar's first theatrical documentary about a four month-old Palestinian boy receiving life-saving treatment from an Israeli doctor amid his country's blockade of the Gaza Strip.

"Precious Life" is produced by Ehud Bleiberg and Yoav Ze'evi.

The Israeli documentary will unspool in Toronto as part of its Real to Reel sidebar, and have its first public screening on Sept. 12.
