HBO to Be Feted at Banff World Media Festival

Network CEO Richard Plepler will keynote as the pay TV giant is honored as the festival's Company of Distinction.

HBO is to be saluted as the Banff World Media Festival's Company of Distinction in June 2016.

The pay TV network’s CEO Richard Plepler will trek to the Canadian Rockies to receive the award and deliver a keynote address. And top network execs, producers and HBO talent will be at the Canadian festival’s 37th edition for additional keynote addresses and master classes.

“HBO is the epitome of a high quality premium content juggernaut who are cutting-edge and have their finger on the pulse of where the industry is heading in cable and digital content and services,” Banff executive director Ferne Cohen said Thursday in a statement.

CBS, Lionsgate, and A+E Networks in 2015 were previously honored in Banff as companies of distinction.The Banff World Media Festival is to run from June 12 to 16, 2016.
