HBO Launches 'Ballers' Pop-Up Timed to Series' Season 3 Premiere
The hit HBO series has partnered with Buscemi, MadeWorn x Roc96 and more on a capsule collection.
Dressing up like a baller just got a lot easier.
HBO is hosting a Ballers pop-up shop in L.A. on Friday and Saturday, July 21 and 22, timed to the series' season-three premiere on Sunday at 10 p.m. The premium cable network has partnered with celebrity-favorite sneaker label Buscemi, Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Kareem "Biggs" Burke's line MadeWorn x Roc96, luxury sportswear brand Pyer Moss, eyewear company Cazal and L.A.-based athletic line Hall of Fame for a co-branded capsule collection.
The comedy, which stars Dwayne Johnson as a retired NFL player turned financial manager, features some of TV's best-dressed dudes in sleek custom-made suits and high-end sneakers.
The pop-up concept came together after the show's costume designer Tiffany Hasbourne and creator Stephen Levinson had a conversation about what was going to happen in season three, when the show moves from Miami to Las Vegas and San Francisco.
"We were talking about how much influence the clothes would have in showing [the relocation]. We needed to maintain the Miami feel, yet still show the placement in other cities," Hasbourne tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that she wanted to "go hard on the fashion" so viewers don't feel too much of a change in the stylish show.
Because the collection is inspired by the show's flashy style, it's no surprise that it comes with high-end price tags. A MadeWorn x Roc96 bomber jacket cut from green tech twill and emblazoned with the phrase, "I'd Rather Die Enormous Than Live Dormant," a line from Jay Z's "Can I Live" song from Reasonable Doubt, is priced at $975. The phrase "speaks volumes to what Ballers is about and what this season is about," explains Hasbourne.
Other highlights include Buscemi 125MM high-top sneakers (available in black or white for $795) and a black backpack ($2,750); a Pyer Moss oversized hooded sweatshirt ($275); and a Hall of Fame hat featuring the Ballers-inspired phrase "New City Same Hustle" ($40) — all of which can only be purchased at the pop-up location.
Depending on how well the pop-up performs, there's a possibility other Ballers-related merch will be sold online in the future.
The pop-up, located on 633 N. La Brea Ave., is open from noon to 7 p.m. In case you have any trouble finding the location, just look for the custom Bentleys parked outside.
