HBO veteran Schaffer will head PR unit
EmptyVeteran HBO PR executive Quentin Schaffer has been promoted to executive vp corporate communications.
Schaffer oversees all of HBO's public relations activities, including media relations, corporate affairs, talent relations and special events. He reports to company co-president Richard Plepler.
"This promotion is a validation of Quentin's extraordinary work over these many years," Plepler said. "There is simply no better PR executive in the entertainment business."
Since joining HBO in August 1980 as a senior publicist, Schaffer has overseen public relations campaigns for such HBO original programs as series "Sex and the City," "The Sopranos," "Deadwood," "The Wire," "Big Love," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Rome" and "Entourage"; miniseries "Band of Brothers" and "Angels in America"; as well as numerous documentaries, original movies, comedy and music specials and sports programs. He also has overseen the network's successful Emmy and Golden Globe Award campaigns.
During the past 27 years, Schaffer rose through the publicity ranks at HBO to senior vp corporate communications, a title he has held since July 1999.
