Helen Hunt, Dakota Fanning Join 'Please Stand By'
The upcoming drama reunites Hunt with 'The Sessions' director Ben Lewin.
The Sessions writer/director Ben Lewin has lined up his next drama and has brought on board Helen Hunt to take the lead once more.
Hunt, who picked up an Oscar nomination for her turn in 2012's The Sessions, having already won best actress for As Good as it Gets in 1996, will star alongside Dakota Fanning in Please Stand By, announced Friday and heading to the Marche du Film in Cannes.
Written by Michael Golamco (Grimm, The Achievers), Please Stand By will see Fanning play a brilliant young woman with autism who escapes her care home and embarks on a road-trip of a lifetime: to enter her script into a Hollywood competition. Hunt will play her no-nonsense caregiver in hot pursuit.
Please Stand By is being produced by Academy Award-nominated Daniel Dubiecki (Up in the Air, Juno) and Lara Alameddine of LA-based banner The Allegiance Theater, with Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban’s 2929 Productions financing.
CAA is repping for the U.S., while London-based Embankment Films is handling international sales and will be introducing the project to buyers in Cannes later this month.
