Helen Mirren Says Ivanka Trump "Talks a Good Game, but There's No Substance"

Mirren added that Melania Trump "almost" took Trump down with her hand swat in Israel.

Helen Mirren was asked to weigh in on the Trumps for her recent Allure cover story interview.

In Mirren's opinion, President Trump said and did "whatever it took" to get what he wanted. "That is quite terrifying, because it means there’s a lack of morality there and a lack of conscientiousness," said the actress. Keeping up with Trump is "a bit like watching a car crash," she added. "There is a sort of mesmerizing horror — it’s why we love horror films.”

As for Trump's wife, First Lady Melania Trump, Mirren sees her as holding power she could use to defeat her husband if she so wished.

"You look at old Mel there, and she is one of the most powerful women in the world, because she could take him down. She almost did that with the hand," said Mirren. The Allure interviewer said Mirren then put on a "Disney Evil Stepmother voice" and said "Don't touch me," pretending to slap Trump's hand away, mimicking Melania's famous hand swat in Israel.

"I’m Eastern European, you know; [we’ve] got these dark souls,” she said. “That dark Slovenian soul is about to come out."

The actress didn't mince words when it came to Ivanka Trump and feminism. Mirren said Ivanka "talks a good game, but there’s no substance."

"Her book is so ignorant about how the majority of women live, talking about ‘Make time for yourself to have a massage.’ Puh-lease," said Mirren.
