Helen Mirren to Receive the Career Achievement Award at the Israel Film Festival

The Israel Film Festival will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 19.

At the 29th Israel Film Festival, Helen Mirren will be honored with the 2015 IFF Career Achievement Award.

The Oscar-winning actress is known for her roles, both on stage and screen, which include Prime Suspect, Calendar Girls and Hitchcock. In 2006, She received an Academy Award, Golden Globe, SAG Award and BAFTA Award for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II for The Queen.

Recently, Mirren won a Tony Award for her performance in the play The Audience, where she reprised her role as Queen Elizabeth II.

Mirren will play gossip columnist Hedda Hopper in the upcoming Hollywood screenwriter biopic Trumbo.

Most recently, the English actress starred as Maria Altmann in Simon CurtisWoman in Gold, which will receive a special screening at the festival. 

“We are very proud to honor such an extraordinary talent as Helen Mirren whose work inspires and emotionally moves millions of filmgoers around the world,” said Meir Fenigstein, founder and executive director of IsraFest Foundation.

It was previously announced that the IFF will also honor Aaron Sorkin with the Achievement in Film & Television award.

The IFF Opening Night Gala takes place Oct 28 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. 

The Israel Film Festival will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 19.
