Tony Awards 2015: Helen Mirren Wins Best Actress in a Play

Helen Mirren was awarded best actress in a play for her performance in The Audience at the Tony Awards on Sunday night.
Bradley Cooper presented the actress with the award, who beat out Geneva Carr (Hand to God), Elisabeth Moss (The Heidi Chronicles), Carey Mulligan (Skylight) and Ruth Wilson (Constellations) to win the honor.
Mirren made her Broadway debut in 1994 in Ivan Turgenev's A Month in the Country, earning her first Tony nomination for best actress in a play. She was nominated again in the same category in 2002 for her performance in August Strindberg's Dance of Death.
Alan Cumming and Kristin Chenoweth co-hosted the 69th annual awards show, which aired live on CBS from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
