Herman Hulst to give GDC keynote

Guerrilla boss to speak at Game Developers Conference

COLOGNE, Germany -- Herman Hulst, managing director of Dutch games developer Guerrilla Games, will give one of the keynote speeches at next month's Game Developers Conference Europe (Aug. 16-18) where he will discuss his company's upcoming Sci-Fi shooter "Killzone 3," one of the most hotly anticipated titles in a new wave of 3-D videogames.

Guerrilla, which is owned by Sony, is developing "Killzone 3" exclusively for PlayStation 3 with a planned Feb. 2011 release. Hulst gave audiences at L.A.'s E3 confab a sneak preview of the game last month.

GDC Europe director Frank Sliwka said Hulst and Guerrilla Games were "exemplar of the ingenuity of European developers" designing games for the international market.

Other keynote speakers at this year's GDC Europe include to of the biggest players in the fast-growing business of online gaming: Bo Wang, vp of China's online developer/operator Tencent Games and Heiko Hubertz, CEO of German browser games group Bigpoint.

The GDC Europe conference runs alongside GamesCom (Aug. 18-21), Europe's largest games industry confab, both held in Cologne, Germany.
