The Golden Globe Ambassador party is just the latest Hollywood event that organizers have called off in recent days given the natural disaster threatening the Los Angeles area.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has canceled its annual party to reveal this year's Golden Globe Ambassador amid the Woolsey Fire that has devastated Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

"Due to the recent mass shooting and wildfires that are currently taking place in California, the HFPA has decided to cancel the annual Golden Globe Awards season kick-off party tomorrow evening, and instead will be making donations to organizations helping the victims and first responders," the HFPA said Tuesday in a statement.

The party, hosted by the HPFA and InStyle, historically announced the Golden Globe ceremony's "Miss Golden Globe," who assisted with ushering presenters on and off stage and handing out awards. However, at last year's event, which revealed that Simone Garcia Johnson, model and daughter of Dwayne Johnson, had won the position, the HPFA announced that it was retiring the "Miss Golden Globe" moniker in favor of Golden Globe Ambassador.

This year's party was set to be held at The Henry instead of its usual location at Catch LA.

"As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA's philanthropic efforts year round," HFPA president Meher Tatna said in a statement at the time. "The honoree will now be referred to as the Golden Globe Ambassador, and we could not think of a better representative than Simone to carry on this tradition, as her values closely reflect everything that HFPA stands for."

Previous honorees include Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet Stallone; Corinne Foxx; Greer Grammer; Sosie Bacon; and Dakota Johnson.

The Woolsey Fire, which has torn through Malibu since Thursday, has burned through more than 96,000 acres and is 35 percent contained. Two deaths have been reported and 435 structures have been destroyed thus far.

The Golden Globe Ambassador party is just the latest Hollywood event that organizers have called off in recent days given the natural disaster threatening the Los Angeles area. Red carpets for Netflix's Bird Box and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Fox's Widows, Annapurna's Destroyer and Paramount's Instant Family have been canceled so far.
