The photograph, in which Hillary is obscured behind Bill, was taken at a White House Christmas reception.

A photograph of Monica Lewinsky shaking then-First Lady Hillary Clinton's hand at a White House event has been released.

Bill Clinton is obscuring Hillary Clinton's face in the picture, which was first published by Gawker on Friday after Politico reporter Conor Skelding reportedly requested Lewinsky-related photos from the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in May 2014. The picture was taken by staff photographer Ralph Alswang at a Christmas reception in the White House on Dec. 17, 1996.

President Clinton and Lewinsky's on-and-off affair occurred from Nov.1995 to March of 1997, according to Lewinsky's grand jury testimony.

A librarian at the Clinton Library confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the blond woman to the left of the president is Hillary Clinton.

Another photograph taken at the same event shows Lewinsky shaking Bill Clinton's hand. This photograph has been published in the past before. Future White House press secretary Jay Carney can be seen in the background of the picture.
