Producer Lee Rich, co-founder of the famed Lorimar production company -- home of classic TV dramas The Waltons, Knots Landing and Dallas and films including An Officer and a Gentleman -- died May 24 of lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles. He was 93.

Janet Carroll, a film, TV and stage actress who played Tom Cruise's mother in Risky Business, died May 22 in New York. She was 71.
