HK film association names Chung chief

Replaces longtime chief Woody Tsung

HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Kowloon and New Territories Motion Picture Industry Assn. on Monday announced the appointment of writer Brian Chung as its chief executive, replacing Woody Tsung.

The MPIA is responsible for compiling Hong Kong's boxoffice results and representing the industry to the Hong Kong government.

Chung is a veteran of Hong Kong film studios Media Asia and Big Media and also worked in sales and marketing for the local Sing Pao Daily newspaper.

In 2005, Chung co-wrote the screenplay for Tony Leung starrer "Seoul Raiders" and co-wrote the play "Zheng He and the Emperor" for Hong Kong Repertory Theatre.

Longtime MPIA chief Tsung will leave at the end of the month for unspecified reasons.
