HKIFF on track for record event

Registrations, sessions up significantly for 2009

BEIJING -- The Hong Kong International Film Festival is on track to break attendance records despite tough economic conditions, with registrations up 58% for the March 22-April 13 event, organizers said Wednesday.

The 33rd HKIFF also is holding a record number of "Meet the Audience" sessions, scheduling 106 this year compared with 64 last year, with presenters including Oliver Stone, Kiefer Sutherland and DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Running alongside the festival is the 7th annual Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum, which will present 27 films it has supported from March 23-25,at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Center.

Previous HAF projects include Ning Hao's "Crazy Stone" and Kurosawa Kiyoshi's "Tokyo Sonata."
