Hockey league launching its own channel

Teams from Russia, Latvia, Belarus and Kazakhstan

MOSCOW -- The Continental Hockey League, a recently formed league of ice hockey teams from Russia, Latvia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, is launching a hockey-focused television channel called Nash Khokkey.

The league is close to signing a deal with Russian satellite TV operator NTV Plus for coverage of its games, the Russian business newspaper RBC Daily reported Tuesday.

According to the report, the channel could debut in 2009.
