Jodie Foster still hadn't quite recovered from the waves of applause for her new movie The Beaver (which she directed and stars in alongside longtime friend Mel Gibson) at its official Cannes screening when The Hollywood Reporter and Vitaminwater held a cocktail party in her honor at Z Plage. "Last night, the steps, the red carpet, the applause -- that is something I've never had in my life," she admitted. Among those who turned out to support her were Fox co-chairman Jim Gianopulos, Miramax CEO Michael Lang, Sony Pictures Classics co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard, producer Jerry Weintraub and Sierra/Affinity CEO Nick Meyer. Foster's pal Rob Lowe saluted her with a toast as "the greatest American actress, director and friend anyone could ever have." -- Gregg Kilday

The Hangover Part II Premiere
Warner Bros. served up happy endings at its “One Night in Bangkok”-themed premiere of Todd PhillipsThe Hangover Part II with an A-list crowd of guests that included actors (Robert Downey Jr., Jason Bateman), directors (Michael Bay, Ivan Reitman), hip-hop artists (Sean Combs, Nas) and sports stars (Eli Manning, Ron Artest). For its biggest L.A. premiere this year, Warners converted a Hollywood parking lot into a slice of Bangkok as seen in the comedy, with a (temporary) tattoo parlor and Southeast Asian food galore, and gave out do-it-yourself bloody mary kits as parting gifts. Two stars of the night were transgender actresses from the movie who found themselves surrounded by much attention, mostly of the male variety (we won’t name names). -- Borys Kit
