'Hollywood Masters' Series Sets Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart, More for Season 8

The new season of the series, moderated by THR's Stephen Galloway, will kick off Sept. 27 on the campus of Loyola Marymount University.

Helen Mirren and Patrick Stewart are among the top talent who will be taking part in season eight of Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television's The Hollywood Masters, hosted by The Hollywood Reporter's executive editor, features, Stephen Galloway.

The new season kicks off Sept 27 with Mirren, followed by filmmakers Darren Aronofsky and Guillermo del Toro, Patrick Stewart and James Franco.

They join a lineup of participants that has included Clint Eastwood, Jane Fonda, Michael Caine, Sean Penn, Amy Adams, Oliver Stone, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David O. Russell and Aaron Sorkin. Season one of the series is currently streaming on Netflix.

"The Hollywood Masters, our flagship program, gives our students an opportunity to learn directly from some of the most incredible talents in the industry," said Stephen Ujlaki, dean of the School of Film and Television. "I am thrilled with this season's lineup, which is comprised of artists and innovators who are known for pushing the boundaries of cinema."

Added Galloway: "I grew up in England revering the work of Helen Mirren and Patrick Stewart, and it's thrilling to get the chance to interview them in real depth like this. My other guests are some of the film artists I most admire today — Aronofsky and Franco and del Toro — each of them brave and original and fearless, even in a studio system that makes it ever harder to be so."
