Hollywood Power Pole Electrocution Causes Widespread Outage

About 2,700 people lost power on Wednesday night near Western Avenue.

Feb. 10, 11:10 p.m.: Updated to include information about the restoration of power to the neighborhood. 

Roughly 2,700 people lost power in Hollywood on Wednesday night after someone climbed a power pole and was electrocuted. 

According to CBS LA, the incident was near the 101 freeway and Western Avenue. The power outage was reported just before 8 p.m. 

Southern California Edison arrived within the hour to work to restore power in the neighborhood and was able to restore power by 10:20 p.m. The person who was electrocuted was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
