The actress was 90.

Doris Roberts, who played the beloved mother on Everybody Loves Raymond, died Sunday night in her sleep of natural causes. She was 90. Raymond's cast and crew, including creator Phil Rosenthal and stars Patricia Heaton and Ray Romano, shared their condolences Monday for the actress who also appeared in numerous TV shows and films, including St. ElsewhereGrandma's Boy and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

"Doris Roberts had an energy and a spirit that amazed me," Romano said in a statement. "She never stopped. Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly."
