Veteran writers and editors have been enlisted to bolster criticism and breaking news offerings in print and on the web.

The Hollywood Reporter is building out its editorial team with the addition of five new hires to further breaking-news, criticism, feature-editing and social media efforts.

Former Hitfix executive editor Dan Fienberg is joining THR's television ranks as a critic, working alongside chief television critic Tim Goodman. In addition to reviews, he'll be bringing The Fien Print blog over to THR.com. Fienberg is also the newly elected vice president of the Television Critics Association, following six-plus years as a board member or officer. In addition, he's the longtime co-host of the popular Firewall & Iceberg podcast.

Joining THR as features editor is Peter Flax, formerly the editor-in-chief at Bicycling magazine from 2010 to 2014. He also served as executive editor at Runner’s World and Backpacker, and has edited at Health, Hippocrates and Mother Jones magazines. His work has appeared in such titles as Men’s Health, Los Angeles, National Geographic Adventure, San Francisco, Reader’s Digest, Men’s Journal and Salon.

Ryan Parker, formerly a Los Angeles Times staff writer focusing on breaking news, has been added as staff editor. Prior to the Times, Parker was part of The Denver Post reporting team that was honored with the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in the breaking news category for coverage of the Aurora theater massacre.

Jen Liles has been named social media manager at THR.com. Previously, Liles held the same title at E! Entertainment Television, managing social platforms and producing E! Online's morning web show.

Additionally, Mia Galuppo, formerly a THR intern, has been hired as a staff writer focusing on film.
