Hollywood's Most Powerful People Reveal What They Can't Get Through the Workday Without
The most common crutch? Caffeine, of course.
The Hollywood Reporter's second annual ranking of the most powerful people in entertainment features some of the most influential minds in the industry, such as Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney Co. chairman and CEO Bob Iger and attorney Skip Brittenham.
As part of the feature, THR asked the the group of creatives, execs and more about what they absolutely need to get through the workday. From morning workout routines to a phone call home, the most frequently reported daily essential was any kind of caffeinated beverage.
While ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey mentioned her specific order ("a grande dirty chai with soy milk and no water"), CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl favors a more straightforward method of getting in his daily caffeine fix ("multiple espressos"). One outlier was Sony Pictures Entertainment newly named chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who claims that "unlike many, I can get through the workday without a cup of coffee."
In addition to their much-needed morning buzz, workouts and cellular devices, Hollywood's major players emphasized the importance of simpler pleasures — like a laugh — to get them through the day. "Fortunately, I work with a lot of really funny people," said Gary Newman, co-CEO and chairman of Fox TV Group.
Read on to find out what the movers and shakes on the THR 100 can't get through the workday without.
