"We commend everyone who worked this year to ensure fair elections and preserve our nation’s legitimate democratic processes," MPA chair-CEO Charles Rivkin said in a statement.

The Motion Picture Association — Hollywood's top lobbying organization — on Saturday congratulated President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their victory in the 2020 election.

"We look forward to working with them on a wide range of important issues, including measures that facilitate return to work for an industry that supports 2.5 million American jobs, helps finance 280,000 businesses in cities and small towns across the country, and pays over $181 billion in wages annually," MPA chair-CEO Charles Rivkin said in a statement.

"We commend everyone who worked this year to ensure fair elections and preserve our nation’s legitimate democratic processes," he continued.

Biden was declared the projected winner of the 2020 presidential race earlier on Saturday, defeating Donald Trump, who has yet to concede the race.

The MPA's members include the five major Hollywood studios, along with Netflix. Chief issues include tax credits, production credits and trade.

The traditional Hollywood studios have been ravaged by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, which led to unprecedented theater closures across the globe.

Rivkin, the former assistant Secretary of State for economic and business affairs under President Barack Obama, arrived at the MPA in 2017. He previously served as U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco. Before that, he spent nearly 20 years in Hollywood as president and CEO of the Jim Henson Co. and then as CEO of Wildbrain.
