Jessica Alba's Honest Beauty Is Finally Here
Honestly, it's pretty impressive.
After announcing its launch earlier this summer, Jessica Alba's long-awaited skincare and cosmetics line, Honest Beauty, is finally here. With 17 skincare products and 66 makeup products, the robust line covers nearly every need for those seeking a "natural" approach to beauty.
Though reasonably priced between $8 and $45, the packaging has all the appeal of a luxury line with its sleek silver caps and matte finish tubes in gray, white and pale pink. Even the new website, where all products are available for purchase, has fancy features like video application tutorials and GIF product demonstrations that are set into motion when users hover over product images. (And honestly, who doesn't love GIFs?)
The actress told Fashionista that for her, diversity was a key to making Honest Beauty standout from the pack. "My impetus in wanting to launch this line was around diverse beauty and celebrating diversity," she said. "I found it very challenging to find the right colors and foundations, and I would often mix two or three different ones."
Despite a few legal hiccups recently, including a $5 million lawsuit alleging that The Honest Co.'s products were made with synthetic materials and that the company's sunscreen was "ineffective," Alba appears to be taking it all in stride. In a statement released last week, the actress noted, "I am very proud that we have built this company into an industry leader focused on using natural ingredients and developing products that people love."
