Hong Kong forum taking submissions

Deadline for Asian film finance matching market is Oct. 31

HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong and Asia Film Financing Forum on Thursday began accepting submissions for its 2009 edition.

Filmmakers have until Oct. 31 to submit projects for the seventh edition of the forum, one of the top regional events to help match filmmakers with financiers.

Past HAF projects include Chinese director Li Yu's "Lost in Beijing," E-J Yong's Korean blockbuster "Untold Scandal" and Filipino director Brillante Mendoza's 2008 Cannes competitor "Serbis."

Projects submitted before Oct. 16 will get a discount on the entry fee to the forum, set to be held March 23-25 in Hong Kong to coincide with the opening of the Hong Kong International Film Festival and the Asian Film Awards.

The forum is co-organized by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
