Horror Comedy 'Housebound' Gets Canadian Distribution
The Kiwi haunted-house thriller stars Morgana O'Reilly, Rima Te Wiata and Glen-Paul Waru
Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada and Raven Banner Entertainment have acquired the Canadian distribution rights to Housebound, the horror comedy that bowed at SXSW.
The Canadian partners plan a theatrical and home entertainment release for the New Zealand haunted-house thriller in 2015. Housebound was picked up earlier for U.S. distribution by XLrator Media.
Gerard Johnstone's directorial debut stars Morgana O'Reilly, Rima Te Wiata and Glen-Paul Waru. The Kiwi genre pic portrays a wayward teen forced by a court to return to her childhood home, only to find it is haunted.
Susan Curran, director of marketing and acquisitions for Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada, and Michael Paszt, managing partner of Raven Banner Entertainment, unveiled the Canadian deal on Friday.
Luke Sharpe produced Housebound for Semi-Professional Pictures, with Ant Timpson, Daniel Story and Chris Lambert sharing the executive producer credits.
