Hot New Restaurant: Silver Lake Gets a Gastro Pub

Hyperion Public

Hyperion Public, THR’s pick of the week for industry dining, has already drawn everyone from Christopher Nolan and Felicity Huffman to Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund.

The Quick Pitch: Silver Lake, which in 2013 still punches far under its weight dining-wise — considering its real estate prices and residents’ baseline foodie sensibilities — recently saw the opening of this casually confident, slyly sophisticated gastro pub along its namesake Eastside corridor. Avocado fries are panko-crusted and accompanied by a lime cilantro aioli. Deviled eggs are filled with spiced goat cheese. Chicken wings come complete with Thai chili heat. Perfectly grilled Niman Ranch pork arrives amidst a honey jus. And, yes, there’s a slew of fancified mac-and-cheese options.

The Insider’s Dish: It’s quietly become a bit of an industry scene. Recent visitors have included Morena Baccarin, Rob Corddry, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Matthew Perry.

The Must-Order Item: A shredded-chicken-strewn order of the zingy, cheesy Oh My Goodness Dip (a distant cousin of Tex-Mex queso), served with house-made chips.

The Industry Neighbor: Shonda Rhimes’ shingle ShondaLand.
