'How to Be Indie' set for fall bow on YTV

Canadian kids channel will start airing series in fall '09

TORONTO -- Canadian producer Heroic Film Co. has sold the tween comedy "How to Be Indie" to Canadian kids cable channel YTV for a fall 2009 airdate.

The live-action comedy about a teenage girl who tries to balance her South Asian heritage and Canadian lifestyle will be shopped next month at MIPCOM by Decode Enterprises, which holds the international rights.

"How to be Indie" was created by screenwriter Vera Santamaria ("Little Mosque on the Prairie," "Degrassi: The Next Generation").

In other pre-MIPCOM news, Canadian distributor Portfolio Entertainment said it has sold the U.S.-based Logo channel 65 episodes of "Bump!" an international travel series about gay-friendly locales.
