How the Director of 'Annie' Pranked the 'Lego Movie' Filmmakers
At the center of the joke is a live-action movie-within-a-movie in Will Gluck's remake
This story first appeared in the Jan. 9 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
On Dec. 19, not only will the Annie remake premiere but also its live-action movie-within-a-movie MoonQuake Lake, starring Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis with a cameo by Rihanna. Although the scrolling credits of the faux trailer cite Phil Lord and Christopher Miller as directors, the brains behind The Lego Movie and 22 Jump Street had nothing to do with it.
The credits prank comes courtesy of Annie filmmaker Will Gluck, topping a decade of back-and-forth high jinks since the three worked together on the short-lived TV show Luis in 2003. Your move, Lord and Miller.
