This Is How to Translate Prada's Gold Lips to Real Life
Because the metal mouth look is in.
There has been plenty of drool-worthy fashion coming down the runways of Milan Fashion Week, but all anybody can talk about is the 24k gold pout makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath created for the Prada models.
But while it looked awesome on the runway, we wanted to know if we could do it ourselves, in real life. The answer? According to Jamie Greenberg — makeup artist to Kaley Cuoco, Rashida Jones and Morena Baccarin — it’s a yes. "I would wear a gold lip with a little black dress and a topknot," she tells Pret-a-Reporter. "I would keep the rest of the makeup very minimal, with a flick of the eye."
She adds that it’s a look she loves for wintertime especially, and thinks is super chic for a holiday party. "I like that it’s very nontraditional and out of the box.” As for the products needed, Greenberg recommends Lipstick Queen’s Queen Bee ($22) formula. Or, “for DIYers, tap on some gold eyeshadow with a little clear gloss on top — I love Amber Lights by MAC ($16)."

For a day-to-day iteration, Greenberg advises dabbing a little gold color on the lips lightly, and following with a pink gloss to soften the intensity. McGrath’s creation is super editorial, no doubt, but, says Greenberg, "now we’re seeing editorial trends turning into everyday beauty looks, which is great! The more creativity the better." Amen, sister.
