How to Land a V.I.P. Styling Session With Karla Welch or Micaela Erlanger
Here's your chance to work one-on-one with two of Hollywood's top stylists.
When faced with holiday dressing conundrums or the need for a wardrobe refresh for 2018, who better to consult than stylists-to-the-stars Karla Welch and Micaela Erlanger? The multi-brand women's fashion boutique Intermix (whose customers include Gigi Hadid, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Chrissy Teigen) is making this V.I.P. fashion fantasy a reality this week for a select few lucky ladies who act fast — the first to sign up will make the cut.
Intermix gave THR an inside exclusive that they will offer just 12 hourlong one-on-one appointments with Erlanger (who counts Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger and Michelle Dockery as clients) on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Intermix on Madison Avenue in New York (click here to sign up), followed by an open-to-the-public conversation and cocktail hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
And here in Los Angeles on Friday, Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be 15 hourlong one-on-one appointments offered with Welch (who works with Justin Bieber, Ruth Negga and Karlie Kloss) at Intermix on Robertson Boulevard (click here to sign up), followed by a public cocktail hour with styling and shopping advice from Welch at 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Everyone who secures a styling session will be automatically entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Intermix shopping spree (two in New York and two in Los Angeles).
"I'm excited to return to my retail roots for a day of shopping and styling at Intermix," said stylist-designer Welch. "It's going to be an 'anything goes' sort of day, so any fashion questions are encouraged and wanted. Sort of an AMA [Ask Me Anything]!"
Intermix has long offered complimentary styling on a day-to-day basis at all 38 boutiques by a team of experts who can consult on trends, figure-flattering styles, special-occasion dressing, closet reboots and more. To make an appointment, call or walk into any Intermix store or click here. Additionally, the company launched a Stylist Services Program in May 2016 that caters to top celebrity stylists, such as Welch and Erlanger, allowing them to pull pieces for their clients in select stores in New York and Los Angeles.
"Karla and Micaela are part of the program, so we thought it was a really natural transition for us to do a collaboration with them and effectively offer for Intermix shoppers a once-in-a-lifetime experience to feel like a celebrity for an hour or more," said Intermix president Jyothi Rao. "We thought it would be a fun surprise-and-delight thing to do over the holidays for our community."
"Today, why do any of us need to get up out of our homes and go to a boutique?" continued Rao. "We go for the personal service. Our stylists are able to evaluate what type of style you’re comfortable with and not comfortable with and really give you that professional assistance in helping to figure out what types of clothes look best on you and also hopefully push you to try some things that perhaps you wouldn’t have tried on your own. I think many people don’t realize that Intermix effectively offers complimentarily the types of services that most people pay hundreds of dollars an hour for professionally. For some of our top clients, we do in-home services, where we help with a seasonal closet refresh, and we do what some subscription services do, where we send boxes of product and they can choose to keep and be charged for what they want and send the rest back. It’s something we’ve done almost since the inception of the brand and it’s been an integral part of our business."
