Strong brows included.

As the younger sister to Miley Cyrus, Noah Cyrus, a nominee in the VMAs best new artist category, is already proving she can hold her own in the music world. But as she stepped out onto the VMAs red carpet in her hoodie-and-thigh-high-boots ensemble on Sunday night, Noah Cyrus proved she's not only a musical force to be reckoned with, but a fresh face to watch in the beauty world, too.

"We wanted to keep her look super light and fresh with a focus on her gorgeous fair skin and bold brows," explains makeup artist Katelin Gan who worked to elevate the 17-year-old singer's natural features. "It's a soft [look], with pops here and there."

It all begins with skin prep for the songstress, says Gan, who used Chanel Hydra Beauty Serum and Avene Hydrance Optimale Light Hydrating Cream. "Starting with the right skincare is essential when doing a clean and fresh look," adds the artist, who finished off Cyrus' complexion using Laura Mercier Radiance Bronze Primer and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation before dusting on Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. "We like to be super light with the powder to keep a healthy glow to the skin," she says. Contouring was achieved with Kevin Aucoin The Sculpting Powder, and highlights with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector.

But the defining feature of the look was Cyrus' natural brows. "We just enhanced them a little bit," adds Gan, who used Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder and Kevin Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil to define their already strong shape, followed by a coat of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel in clear."

"She loves a natural look," says Gan. "I feel like she's kind of reinventing it a little bit."
