Howie Mandel released from hospital

'Deal or No Deal' host had irregular heartbeat

TORONTO -- "Deal or No Deal" host Howie Mandel will return to work Wednesday after being hospitalized briefly for an irregular heartbeat, his publicist said.

Mandel was conscious and breathing Monday night when police officers responded and he was rushed to a Toronto hospital.

"He did not have a heart attack," Mandel spokesman Lewis Kay said in an e-mail.

Toronto-born Mandel, 53, is expected to be back at work Tuesday shooting an episode of "Howie Do It," a hidden camera prank show that debuted on NBC on Friday night.

Toronto police said that paramedics rushed to the downtown Sheraton Center Hotel on Monday night to respond to Mandel, who remained conscious and talking as he was transported to St. Michael's Hospital.

The made-in-Canada "Howie Do It" series is a co-venture between NBC and Global Television.
