Huard tapped to lead UPI's  French branch

CANNES -- Stephane Huard has said oui to Universal Pictures International.

UPI president David Kosse on Tuesday announced Huard's hiring as managing director of the studio's French arm.

Huard will oversee theatrical marketing, distribution and acquisitions for all titles under the Universal banner throughout the Gaul region and develop the company's distribution plan for the territory. He will report to executive vp international distribution Duncan Clark.

"Stephane's understanding of the unique cultural and business environment of the French film industry will enable him to make great contributions to our presence there," Kosse added.

UPI launched in January after the collapse of United International Pictures. Huard was managing director of Lumiere Publicite from 2001-06, overseeing marketing strategies and campaigns for UIP France. He was named managing director of Stage Entertainment France in 2006.
