'The Hunger Games' First Clip: Fans React

A trailer for the film, in theaters March 2012, was revealed during the MTV VMAs Sunday.

Lionsgate gave fans a peek at their upcoming The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence during Sunday night's MTV VMAs, debuting the film's first official clip. 

But, the scene, which featured Lawrence running through a forest and performing archery, didn't reveal much about the highly-anticipated film, which hits theaters March 23, 2012.

Fans immediately took to Twitter to discuss -- and the consensus seemed to be feelings of disappointment. 

"Trying not to give details so I don't spoil it for anyone. I'll just say that I thought there would be a scene more unique to Hunger Games," wrote Amanda V.

"Seriously disappointed," Elizabeth Holmes said after re-tweeting user Clayman's "Hunger Games. That was it? Really #letdown." 

"That Hunger Games preview had more trees than any human," said llbeaners. 

"Wait was that seriously the first look of the Hunger Games? that was nothing. what." wrote Alicia Fuller. 

Devindra Hardwar observed: "The lesson I'm learning from the Hunger Games PR strategy: Whatever your expectations are for early glimpses, lower them."

"Wasn't satisfied with the Hunger Games preview. I could have filmed that myself..." said user rothsresidence. 

But, Kelsey Fischer was definitely not disappointed, writing, "OHMYGOSSSSSSHHHHHHH THAT HUNGER GAMES TEASER WAS AMAZINGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM CRYINGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

And Jessica Spotswood praised the film's casting, saying "Jennifer Lawrence really looks like Katniss in the Hunger Games clip to me. Yay!"
