"I'm extremely happy about this collaboration because I think that Hussein is a super-talented, forward-thinking designer," Vionnet chairman and creative director Goga Ashkenazi told Women's Wear Daily. "He is a true artist, very conceptual; he thinks out of the box and has a strong architectural approach. He represents what Madeleine Vionnet represented in her era."

Chalayan, whose eponymous line has been worn by Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez, is known for thinking outside the box and pushing the envelope with his runway shows displaying designs inspired by technology, science and architecture.

Vionnet launched its demi-couture line last September in honor of its 100th anniversary, with one-off dresses made with special craftsmanship and sold for less than traditional couture pieces.

With Chalayan's eye for avant-garde designs, it will be exciting to see what he'll conjure up for the Parisian label.
