'Ice Age: Collision Course' Trailer Explains Why Planets Orbit Around the Sun

Scrat's endless acorn chase accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that threaten the world of Sid, Manny, Diego and the herd in the franchise's fifth film.

Ice Age is going to space.

The fifth installment of the hit family franchise from 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios sees Scrat unwaveringly pursuing his acorn.

But this time, such efforts accidentally set off a series of cosmic events (like spurring the planets into a rotational orbit around the sun) that transform and threaten the herd's world. To save themselves, Sid, Manny, Diego and the rest of the characters must leave their home and embark on a new adventure.

The animated film, directed by Mike Thurmeier, again features a voice cast of Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes and Jennifer Lopez.

Additionally, the cast also includes new additions Stephanie Beatriz, Adam DeVine, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Max Greenfield, Jessie J, Nick Offerman, Melissa Rauch, Michael Strahan and Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Ice Age: Collision Course hits theaters July 22, 2016, and intends to continue the success of the blockbuster family franchise. All told, the first four films grossed $2.8 billion at the global box office.
