Ice-T, Wife Coco to Test Talk Show Skills on Fox
The couple will get a test run on select Fox stations beginning Aug. 3 to see if their show can earn a national rollout.
Ice & Coco, starring actor and rapper Ice-T and his model wife Coco, is the latest talk show concept to get a test run on selected Fox owned TV stations in New York, Los Angeles and a few other markets, it was announced Monday by Fox Television Stations and Warner Bros.
Ice & Coco will air beginning Aug. 3, probably for about six weeks, to see if it can be put into national syndication.
The married couple plan to take on celebrities and topics “showcasing the couple’s fun, authentic vibe and honest curiosity about what’s happening in the world,” according to the announcement from Fox senior vp Frank Cicha; Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Ken Werner; and Warner Bros. president unscripted and alternative TV Mike Darnell.
The couple plan to interview and interact with celebrities in lighthearted segments, which may include various kinds of games. “It’s a fun show,” the couple said in a statement, “with our own style of hip, married humor and honesty.”
Besides being a rap artist, Ice-T is also an actor, most recognized for his role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
“We see this as another attempt to do something different — big personalities, new to the daypart. Ice-T helped change popular culture," said Cicha. "We’re trying to do the same thing for daytime.”
Werner said they hope it will become part of “the next generation” of talk shows.
The show is exec produced by Candi Carter and is produced by Warner Bros. Telepictures Productions.
Ice & Coco is the second show involving a real-life married couple that will get a test on Fox this summer. The first, which is being produced by Fox as well, is the Boris and Nicole Show, which debuts July 6.
Fox has announced plans to test three other shows as well.
