Idris Elba, John Cena Tackling 'Heads of State' Action Film for Amazon Studios

The streaming giant acquired the project from The Safran Company, with Harrison Query writing the screenplay.

Amazon Studios has picked up the action movie Heads of State, to star Idris Elba and John Cena, from The Safran Company, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Harrison Query is penning the script and Peter Safran and John Rickard are producing.

WWE star-turned-actor Cena and Elba are already on board the Suicide Squad sequel, with James Gunn writing and directing the Warner Bros. superhero follow-up.

Idris Elba is also set to star inĀ Beast, a survival thriller that Baltasar Kormakur will direct for Universal Pictures.

Elba, who starred in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw for Universal, is also coming off the Toronto Film Festival debut of the drama Concrete Cowboy.

Cena, who has appeared in movies such as Blockers and Bumblebee, next appears in Fast & Furious installment F9, scheduled to be released in April 2021.

Elba is repped by WME, The Artists Partnership, M88 and Ziffren Brittenham. Cena is repped by ICM Partners.
