IFC acquires 'Centipede' rights

Pic won best horror and actor awards at Fantastic Fest

IFC Films has acquired North American rights to the horror film "The Human Centipede (Full Sequence)," written and directed by Tom Six.

The film will be released via the IFC in Theaters platform with a simultaneous theatrical and VOD premiere.

"Centipede" premiered in 2009 at Fantastic Fest, where it received the top prize for best horror film and a best actor award for Dieter Laser, who stars as an obsessed doctor who surgically joins his unsuspecting victims together.

It also received best picture at the 2009 Scream Fest.

The acquisition deal was negotiated by IFC's Jeff Deutchman and Arianna Bocco with Ilona Six.
