IFC grabs rights to 'Necessities of Life'

Film is Canada's foreign-language Oscar entry

TORONTO -- Canadian distributor Entertainment One has sold U.S. rights to Quebec helmer Benoit Pilon's "The Necessities of Life" to IFC Films.

Pilon's French-language Inuit drama is Canada's submission for the foreign-language entry for the Academy Awards.

Toronto-based Entertainment One also said Friday that it has picked up Canadian and international rights to Cherien Dabis' upcoming Sundance entry "Amreeka," a U.S.-Canadian-Kuwait co-production.
