IFC picks up 'Ricky' for North America

Francois Ozon's thriller adapted from 'Moth' short story

CANNES -- IFC Films has acquired North American rights to Francois Ozon's thriller "Ricky," adapted from the short story "Moth" by the English novelist Rose Tremain. The film, which premiered in Berlin, stars Alexandra Lamy and Sergi Lopez, and was produced by Chris Bolzli, Claudie Ossard and Vieri Razzini.

The film concerns an unique little boy and the struggles of a working-class single parent in contemporary France.

IFC is planning a 2010 release.

The deal was negotiated by IFC director of acquisitions and co-productions Lizzie Nastro and LePacte's Elisabeth Perlie.
