IFP dips into 'Honeydripper'

John Sayles' "Honeydripper" has been selected to screen at the IFP's annual Independent Film Week, running Sunday through Sept. 21 in New York.

Sponsored by the Manhattan-based independent filmmakers organization, Independent Film Week includes the public Filmmaker Conference, the 29th annual IFP Market for industry professionals as well as the IFP Awards Luncheon.

"Honeydripper," which also is screening today at the Toronto International Film Festival, will screen as Independent Film Week's opening-night film at an invitation-only screening Sept. 17 at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square.

The screening will be followed by a reception celebrating the 15th anniversary of Filmmaker magazine, which is published by IFP.

"Honeydripper" features an ensemble cast that includes Danny Glover, Charles S. Dutton, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Stacy Keach, Mary Steenburgen, Yaya DaCosta and Sean Patrick Thomas. It will be released theatrically this year by Emerging Pictures.

A Fair Use in Documentaries summit, open to the general public, will close the Filmmaker Conference on Sept. 21. Panelists will in-clude several docu filmmakers, including Kirby Dick and Alex Gibney.

Independent Film Week will conclude with the annual IFP Awards Luncheon on Sept. 21. At the event, IFP will distribute a slate of cash and in-kind grants to new independent projects.
