IFP promotes director duo

Mitchell Micich, Amy Dotson take new titles

Mitchell Micich has been promoted to deputy director, finance and operations, and Amy Dotson has been promoted to deputy director at IFP, the New York-based organization that supports independent filmmaking.

They both will report to executive director Michelle Byrd, who announced the promotions Sunday.

Additionally, Jennifer Smith in now a full-time staff member as producer of the Gotham Independent Film Awards, which take place in December.

Micich, a nine-year IFP veteran, previously served as senior director of finance and operations; he handles financial oversight and day-to-day administrative management of the nonprofit IFP and its publication, Filmmaker Magazine. Prior to IFP, he served as comptroller and financial analyst for C.W. Shaver & Co.

Dotson joined IFP in 2006 as producer and managing director of programming. In the newly created role as deputy director, she will oversee the development and execution of membership services and programs. Before IFP, Dotson was associate programmer/special programs producer for for various AFI film festivals and programs.

Smith joined IFP in September as associate producer of the Gothams and took over the role of producer in January.
