Longtime Imagine Entertainment stalwart Michael Rosenberg has been promoted to co-chairman of the prolific production company.

Rosenberg joined Imagine, the banner run by chairmen Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, in 1988 as vp marketing. Ten years later, in 1998, he was upped to president.

During his time as president, the company has made movies ranging from the acclaimed A Beautiful Mind and Friday Night Lights to the massive hits How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Da Vinci Code.

The company has also made major inroads into TV with shows such as 24 and Arrested Development.

Said Grazer: “While he has been a valued partner since he came to Imagine, during the past few years Michael has become more directly involved with Ron and me in creating company strategies and planning the future of Imagine. He is an asset to the company in more ways than one and a man we respect.”

Howard said: “Michael continues to be an incredible marketing distribution strategist with strong business instincts on expanding the Imagine brand. He is not only an integral part of the company’s life, he is also a genuine friend.”

Imagine is currently in production on three movies: Howard’s Heart of the Sea, starring Chris Hemsworth; the biopic Pele; and Tate Taylor’s biopic on James Brown, Get On Up. It also has Parenthood airing on NBC.

Over the last 25 years, the company has generated $13.5 billion at the worldwide box office and won 10 Oscars.
