Imax adds Mexican screens

OTTAWA -- Two Imax theaters will be constructed in Mexico in conjunction with family-run Cinemas Martinez, the first in Torreon in 2007 and the second in neighboring Chihuahua in 2008, the Toronto-based giant-screen company announced Thursday. The deal brings the number of Imax theaters scheduled to be open in Latin America by the end of 2008 to 32. "Latin America is one of our fastest growing markets, and we are encouraged by the consistent growth in Mexico, which already has an established network of Imax theaters," Imax co-CEOs and co-chairmen Richard Gelfond and Bradley Wechsler said in a statement.
