AMC and Imax are discussing super-sizing the popular zombie drama for the local multiplex.

As Imax looks for new content to show after HBO's Game of Thrones played in its theaters, the exhibitor on Tuesday revealed ongoing talks with AMC to show The Walking Dead on its screens.

"We'll be looking for more content like Game of Thrones. A high bar to kind of strive for would be The Walking Dead, and we have had conversations with our pals at the AMC network about that," Greg Foster, senior executive vp and CEO of Imax Entertainment, told analysts during his company's Investors Day presentation.

Imax earlier this year showed the final two episodes from season four of Game of Thrones, followed by the worldwide debut of the series' season five sneak-peek preview created exclusively for Imax. The first-ever screening of a TV show in the Imax format has now prompted the giant screen exhibitor to look for additional small screen content for cinematic cross-promotion.

"We're not doing anything yet (with The Walking Dead), but that's something we'd like to do. And we're looking for more epic content that's in line with the Imax experience to help fill some ... gaps," Foster told investors.
